10/06/25 - FINAL INFORMATION AND PRACTICALITIES

Dear family and friends,

 

Hope you are doing well today albeit the (Dutch) weather? We are only 2 weeks away from our wedding and we are really, really excited! And yes. Also.. quite nervous. Everything is set and we are comfortable and ready to rumble. Before we set off to Italy, we give you a final update on the program and some practicalities.

OVERALL 

• After a very wet spring, the heat is on in Italy. It is hot, verry hot. Weather forecast for now is between 30-35 degrees Celsius (95-100 Fahrenheit). Pay attention to it when packing your stuff (no, shorts and flipflops are still not allowed during the cocktail event and official ceremony 😉);

• It can cool down in the evening as we are in the Tuscan hills. Girls make sure you bring a sweater with you or ask your spouse for its jacket. Guys, you all are wearing formal jackets, so you are good to go;

• We celebrate each other and the fact that you are with us on this special occasion and really want to live in the moment with you. Phones are allowed (see further below in the e-mail), but we would like to take this occasion and “party like its ‘99” with you and forget about the rest of the world. It would be highly appreciated if you respect our wishes.

GUESTS WHO STAY AT HOTEL VALDARNO 

• You can check-in from 3pm onwards

• If you arrive earlier you are more than welcome at Villa Le Vigne at one of the swimming pools – the entire venue is ours for the weekend 😉;

• The hotel is located in the centre of Montevarchi. Alternatively you spend some time over here but be aware that there is siesta between 1-4pm;

• It’s a 10min drive from Hotel Valdarno to the venue (basically one way street);

• On Saturday, we arranged taxi’s at our cost to pick you up and bring you safely back to the hotel, time to be determined

• For the other days we leave it up to you – it’s your own responsibility reg. drinks & driving! You are with 4 people which easily fits in a taxi 😉!

• We arranged a special rate for you as already mentioned. Prepayments were required; we will get in touch with you this week. This means you don’t have to pay at the hotel

 

COMMUTING TO ITALY 

By now everyone has secured their commute to Italy, we had a good laugh helping you guys out with the planning and how to travel within Italy. No worries, its an European country and train connection is really good. You will survive 😉!

• For those who travel by car,

  • Don’t forget to check the baustelle (Wegwerkzaamheden buitenland | ANWB)

  • Don’t forget your vignette either for Switzerland or Austria! You can order them over here (Tolbadge, vignetten & milieustickers | ANWB Webwinkel)

• For those who travel by plane and train

  • Check the latest train information on Trenitalia.it (Home Trenitalia)

  • We recommend buying your ticket when you land in Italy. You can easily purchase the train ticket via the website or their app (iPhone only)

  • You have two trains; quick and slow one. Take the quick one ~30min. vs 1h – you can recognize it with the ‘RV’ logo both on the website/app as on the train itself (the slow one is ‘R’)

  • Arriving @ Firenze airport: take the shuttle tram to Firenze S.M.

  • Arriving @ Pisa Airport: Take the train to Firenze S.M.

  • When you are at Firenze S.M. – be aware that in Italy, the information reg. the platform from where the train leaves, is shared relatively late. There is a big information sign in the main hall where you see it. Just pay attention to your train number on your ticket and the time of leaving on the sign;

  • And if you buy a ticket at the station, please do not forget to stamp before you board the train!

EARLY ARRIVALS ON THURSDAY

• We are at the hotel as of Tuesday so no worries, you are not alone 😉! ;

• All the hotel rooms are arranged and you can check in from ~3pm onwards;

• As already mentioned we arranged an optional diner for €25 (2 courses), you can pay at the restaurant. Please let us know if you want to use this (if you haven’t already) before the end of this week

PROGRAM

Arrival on Friday and formal start of our Wedding weekend

• All the rooms are arranged and you can check in from ~3pm onwards;

• Of course if you arrive earlier, you are more than welcome at one of the pools where there is also a shower and a dressing room;

• The official start of our wedding weekend starts at 6pm where we would like to celebrate that you (as guests) are with us

Saturday – The ceremony:

• It’s the longest day of the year and we are in Italy – in other words the ceremony will start relatively late 😃! Make sure you had a long lunch;

• The official start of the ceremony is 5pm. Please do whatever you feel like to do in the morning / early afternoon;

• We kindly ask you to stay away from the upper part of the venue as of 4 PM (we need those first look pics 😉). Giulia (our amazing planner) will gather everyone when it’s time to go up for the ceremony. Will be around 4.45 pm.

• We have a professional photographer who is specialized in making livery, vibrant photos that radiate energy and joy. People staring at their phones kills our photos.  

  • We kindly ask you to keep your phones in your pocket during the ceremony 😃  

 

Sunday – the day after with brunch

• At 10 am we will have a final brunch together before saying our goodbyes

• Hotel check-out is at 1pm. For those who have late flights, you can stay at Villa Le Vigne at the swimming pools / the main area and have a relaxed afternoon. Of course, this is also the case for people who stay at Hotel Valdarno
