TRAVELING BY TRAIN

Obviously taking the train is the most environmental option and a really cool alternative for driving and flying. You do need to take some time and be prepared for potential delays as the Germany train infrastructure is notorious for construction work and therefore delays. The Italian train infrastructure, however, is really good and one of the best of Europe.

The location of the venue is very close to a train station,  that has a direct connection to Firenze SMN (Santa Mark Novella).

Benito Mussolini (yes the same guy who was responsible  for some not so great stuff from Italy as well) wanted to make sure that all the trains were on time in Italy and they were only allowed to have one minute delay.

One option is to ‘just take the train to Italy’ as fast as possible, or you can take the ‘Dolce Vita Express’ and take a d-tour through the Italian landscapes. This is a bit expensive though. Please visit the website for more details.

Plan your trip to Italy with the train using the NS International website

MOST COMFORTABLE (16 HOURS)

We recommend to book your train ticket via NS international. The website is easy to use and you can navigate your way through the destinations.

The travel time is around 16 hours when you leave from Utrecht central station and have Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN) as your final destination. From Firenze you can take the last train to Montevarchi which is around 40 minutes.

We recommend you to leave at night (20:47pm current schedule) as this is the most convenient with only 3 transfers and the comfy Nightjet. Please note that the night jet leaves from Eindhoven, you can also drive to Eindhoven and leave from there.

You arrive at 12pm in Firenze with a transfer in Basel and Milan. These are more expensive though as tickets are around €260. For a private cabine you pay €300 extra.

THE FASTEST (14h)

Alternative is leaving early in the morning (9:06am) and take the regular train. This is faster and cheaper as it takes 13 hours and only €165. However, this is less comfortable as you travel by day i.e. no comfortable bed , busier trains and higher chance of delays.

To make the most out of it (for instance working while traveling) we recommend you to book first class for only €50 more.

You have a transfer at Mannheim, Basel and Milan.
